The Empty Chair

Holiday traditions often involve family getting together for a meal. These can certainly be great times, but they can also be times that we come face to face with the reality that somebody is missing – that there is an empty chair at our table. Death and loss have a way of messing with our holiday joy. Where do we go with that? How do we experience joy in the holidays when somebody that we love isn’t there? Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy “3 steps and you’re done” to get through this one, but the Bible does give us hope that we can hang onto when it feels like there’s nothing else.
