Lynn Rogers: Relearning Everything

Published: Dec. 16, 2022, 2:33 p.m.

When Lynn started feeling tingling in her hands a couple of weeks before the IRONMAN she had been training so hard for, she chalked it up to training fatigue, nerves, or just something small that would pass. As it persisted and with her background in sports recovery, she knew something was wrong.

The tingling led to complete numbness to the point that Lynn couldn’t walk or use her lower body. She was subsequently diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), the chronic form of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). It’s is a rare disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves, leading to weakness and sometimes paralysis. She would spend months in the hospital, repeatedly making progress and then relapsing.

“My story is shared by thousands but my experience as a scientist and an athlete has made the journey uniquely my own. I have learned innumerable lessons about surviving life’s challenges, even how to surpass every expectation. I want to share what I know.” - Lynn

On this episode, Lynn shares her experience with CIPD and the impact it had on her life and her journey to recovery and what the experience has taught her about living Without Compromise.
