This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom The Characters of Christmas-3 Mary, The Simple Girl at the Center of Everything \u2013 Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message \u2013 12/11/2022 The Characters of Christmas: Mary, The Simple Girl at the Center of Everything \xa0 Last week we continued our Advent series as we explored A Christmas Miracle: The Story of Zachariah and Elizabeth. \xa0 Today, we continue our third Advent series character as we explore Mary, the Simple Girl at the Center of Everything. Our initial scripture for today is Luke 1:26-45, on pages 1588-89 in the pew Bible. Follow along as I read. \xa0The Birth of Jesus Foretold 26\xa0In the sixth month of Elizabeth\u2019s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel\xa0to Nazareth,\xa0a town in Galilee,\xa027\xa0to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph,\xa0a descendant of David. The virgin\u2019s name was Mary.\xa028\xa0The angel went to her and said, \u201cGreetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.\u201d 29\xa0Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.\xa030\xa0But the angel said to her, \u201cDo not be afraid,\xa0Mary; you have found favor with God.\xa031\xa0You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.\xa032\xa0He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.\xa0The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,\xa033\xa0and he will reign over Jacob\u2019s descendants forever; his kingdom\xa0will never end.\u201d 34\xa0\u201cHow will this be,\u201d Mary asked the angel, \u201csince I am a virgin?\u201d 35\xa0The angel answered, \u201cThe Holy Spirit will come on you,\xa0and the power of the Most High\xa0will overshadow you. So the holy one\xa0to be born will be called[a]\xa0the Son of God.\xa036\xa0Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child\xa0in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.\xa037\xa0For no word from God will ever fail.\u201d 38\xa0\u201cI am the Lord\u2019s servant,\u201d Mary answered. \u201cMay your word to me be fulfilled.\u201d Then the angel left her. Mary Visits Elizabeth 39\xa0At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,\xa040\xa0where she entered Zechariah\u2019s home and greeted Elizabeth.\xa041\xa0When Elizabeth heard Mary\u2019s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.\xa042\xa0In a loud voice she exclaimed: \u201cBlessed are you among women,\xa0and blessed is the child you will bear!\xa043\xa0But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord\xa0should come to me?\xa044\xa0As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.\xa045\xa0Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!\u201d The city of...
