This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom The Characters of Christmas-1 Joseph, The Unsung Hero of Christmas \u2013 Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message \u2013 11/27/2022 The Characters of Christmas: Joseph, the Unsung Hero of Christmas \xa0 Last week, we studied one of the most miraculous historical events in a message titled A Miraculous Resurrection. The focus was on the three essential principles of the resurrection: \xa0

1. The resurrection of Jesus assures us of God\u2019s forgiveness.
2. The resurrection of Jesus assures us of God\u2019s power.
3. The resurrection assures us of God\u2019s ultimate triumph at the end of history.

\xa0 We will break from our series of the Good News according to John the Apostle, where we have three more messages to finish up the entire book of John. Starting today, we begin an Advent series exploring five characters of Christmas, beginning with Joseph, The Unsung Hero. \xa0 Our scripture for today is Matthew 1:18-25, on page 1497 in the pew Bible. Follow along as I read. \xa0Joseph Accepts Jesus as His Son 18\xa0This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[a]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.\xa019\xa0Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[b]\xa0did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce\xa0her quietly. 20\xa0But after he had considered this, an angel\xa0of the Lord appeared to him in a dream\xa0and said, \u201cJoseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.\xa021\xa0She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c]\xa0because he will save his people from their sins.\u201d 22\xa0All this took place to fulfill\xa0what the Lord had said through the prophet:\xa023\xa0\u201cThe virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel\u201d [d]\xa0(which means \u201cGod with us\u201d). 24\xa0When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel\xa0of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.\xa025\xa0But he did not consummate their marriage...
