Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1969 of our Trek, and it\u2019s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today\u2019s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let\u2019s jump right in with today\u2019s nugget:

Today\u2019s quote is from General George S. Patton, and it is: Always do everything you ask of those you command.
Set An Example


An effective leader is always willing to know the way of the subordinates, but more importantly, show the way. You cannot expect to lead others if you are unwilling to perform the same tasks expected of them. This does not mean that you have to be in the trenches, but you must be willing and able to do so, if needed. You should also have experience doing the tasks you require of others. You may not be able to perform as well as others in everything, but you are knowledgeable enough about the functions you can fill in if needed. Finally, the most influential leaders can empathize and sympathize with those they are responsible for. These traits can be learned but do come more naturally for some. Lead well by example.

And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly\u2014not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don\u2019t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.

In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for

\u201cGod opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.\u201d

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
