Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1813 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is: A person who has a lot of friends either has a lot of money or is a good listener.
True Friends

Friendships can be somewhat fickle. For example, if a person is wealthy they may attract friends who desire to be associated with them because of their wealth. These friends are referred to as ‘fair-weather friends.’ They are only friends when there is a benefit associated with that friendship. If a person is a good listener, they will attract friends to them, because they are willing to invest time into the lives of others by truly listening to the concerns of others. Since most people like to talk about themselves, when someone is willing to be a genuine listener, many will desire to be associated with them, since they care about others. So if you are not wealthy, but have many friends, you must be a good listener. Caring for others and investing time into their lives is a mark of a true friend. As disciples of Christ, we are to love others as ourselves, which means being willing to listen to them and help them.

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

Wealth makes many “friends”; poverty drives them all away.
