E46: My used vehicle purchase

Published: July 26, 2021, 11 a.m.

I got my truck! Today's episode details my experience purchasing the truck, plus my list of must haves, dealbreakers, and nice to have features along with a hefty dose of wisdom gained from previous experiences. The past three months of vehicle issues have been quite the ride, and I'm excited to move on to new adventures in a new adventuremobile!

When considering a vehicle, it's very helpful to have a list of essential features it must have what your dealbreakers are, and what is nice--but not essential. Everyone has their own preferences, tolerances and interests: be sure to get the right vehicle for YOU, the one that meets your needs.

\n

Must haves: what does the vehicle have to have? AC? Cruise? Towing capacity? Offroad capabilities? Fuel efficiency? Take time to think ahead about what you need a vehicle to have.

\n

Nice to haves: what are things you don't *need* but that are nice to have? Manual transmission? AC? Cruise? A bajillion cameras? Warranty? Entertainment system? Bluetooth?  What are the features you'd like to have but that are not essential for your purposes.

\n

Dealbreakers: what features, quirks or issues will eliminate a vehicle from consideration? Rusted frame? Price? Automatic transmission? Push button start? High mileage? Low ride height? Altered suspension? Think about what you absolutely do not want in the vehicle you will be purchasing.
