S02E01 - Office Management with Carmen D’Cruz

Published: Aug. 12, 2018, 11 a.m.

This week we’re joined by white-collar professional and stand-up comedian Carmen D’Cruz on the topic of office environments and project management. We start with Terry Gilliam’s Brazil (1985) and find it difficult to imagine living in an information-based capitalist society under constant threat of terrorism. Next up is Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge’s cult hit Office Space (1999) which didn’t hit at the time but has since become a clear echo of many people’s daily office life. We finish with Greg McLean directing a James Gunn script in The Belko Experiment (2017) which leaves us unconvinced that being a Special Ops soldier makes you even a half decent boss. Honorable mentions go to Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), Boiler Room (2000), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), The Big Short (2015) and Margin Call (2011). Also: Robert De Niro reuses his wardrobe. Form 27B/6. London Skeptics in the Pub. Thinking On Sunday lectures. Be Pure, Be Vigilant, Behave. TPS reports and memos. What does PC Load letter even mean?! PRINCE2 and Scrum mastery. Trial runs for fascism. John C. McGinley is a national treasure. Cognitive biases. We play a game of “What’s My Day Job?”. Carmen dominates readers of The Chap for fun. Brexit needed a better project manager.
