S01E19 - Movies into TV

Published: May 13, 2018, 11 a.m.

We begin with M*A*S*H (1970) - the movie that started a TV show that lasted longer than the Korean war it portrays at a time when America needed an outlet for Vietnam angst. Machismo overcomes emasculation in Westworld (1973) with gritty gunslingers and sex robots. The paramilitary police surveillance state is closer than we think in Blue Thunder (1983) but let's turn it into a weekly fluffy police drama. Based on a true story (not), Fargo (1996) divides us with its ineptitude noir and the banality of evil. Also: Joe tries to bond with #PERL the cat - literally. Laugh track vs. no laugh track. Dee shits on Joe’s facts. We uncover the earliest use of the word “fuck” in cinema. Robots? No! Rbts! RBTS! Dee isn’t impressed by a rubber snake. JAFO, FNG, and REMF explained. Mario Machado! Yah. Yaaaaaah. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. (Go Bears). Dee hates on Minnesota nice. We play a game of “... the TV show!” and Nerd Fight this week is movies that should be turned into TV shows.
