IN THIS EPISODE: it\u2019s #ThrillerThursday, and this week I\u2019m bringing you a tale recommended to me by one of you, the Weirdo family. Louis Padgett\u2019s story, \u201cMimsy Were the Borogoves\u201d was originally published in the February 1943 issue of \u201cAstounding Science Fiction Magazine\u201d. It was judged by the\xa0Science Fiction Writers of America\xa0to be among the best science fiction stories written prior to 1965, and in 2007 it was loosely adapted into a feature-length film titled\xa0The Last Mimzy.\xa0The title of the original short story was directly inspired by a verse from "Jabberwocky", a poem found in the classic novel\xa0Through the Looking-Glass\xa0by author\xa0Lewis Carroll. And in 1976,\xa0Caedmon Records\xa0released a spoken word album of the short story, narrated by\xa0William Shatner. Well \u2013 I don\u2019t know that I\u2019ll be as entertaining as William Shatner with the story, but I\u2019ll do my best for you.
