According to Albert Einstein's famous equation, E=mc^2, energy and matter are two different states of the same thing. The amount of energy saved in matter should be its mass multiplied by the speed of light squared. So why is it that we still have to think and research intensely to secure our growing future energy supply?

Today, more than 80% of the global energy supply comes from fossil fuels like oil, coal and gas. However, renewable energies have seen a significant boost in recent years and the Biden administration plans to invest up to 2 trillion $ in renewable energies in just 4 years. Global politics aims to fully decarbonize the power sector by 2035 and upgrade economies to become net-zero in carbon emissions by 2050.
