Engineering is the bottleneck for human progress. While we can think and invent new knowledge and find better ways to collect, distribute and analyze information, manufacturing is what allows us to increase our standards of living. Challenges regarding scarcity and properties of input materials and design of end products have limited humanity so far in progressing much faster. But 3D printing stands at the dawn of a potential industrial revolution, allowing for rapid prototyping, high customization and removing the barriers between production and consumption. Once the ways we make things change, the things we make changes.
