My Lord and My God: Seeking to Understand the Incarnation

Published: Dec. 9, 2022, 10:10 p.m.

A longform exchange between Jason and myself in which we try to understand the necessity and nature of the Incarnation. 1 Corinthians 8:6, NASB: "yet for us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him." Creation has to be joined to God in order to exist at all P2. Whatever is joined to God is joined to God eternally since God is without change C1. Creation exists necessarily P3. There has to be a tzimtzum/withdrawal//kenosis/atonement event C2. This atonement event has to be within creation C3. God must incarnate within His creation in order to perform this atonement event, hence the necessity of His incarnation.
