But it\u2019s the depth of being human that gives us access to the most life-giving of gifts we each have to bring. \nSomething exquisitely sweet and tender, like a hummingbird\u2019s tongue.
\nSome kernel of something, a breath.
\nIf I hold still enough, I can feel it.
\nIf I move slowly enough, I can hold it in both hands, gingerly, like an offering.
\nI have to be quiet to be with it \u2013 move too fast and it feels like I may lose it, like holding a tiny feather without gripping it.
\nBut I know it\u2019s also lodged in there, in here, like the tree I saw that had grown through and around a fence. \u201cI\u2019m not going anywhere\u201d.
\nThis delicate, solid, holy thing.

\nAnother breath, another flutter.
\n
\nWhat is most holy in me?
\nThat part that wants to cry out and weep with the world these days and drop onto the sidewalk, exhausted.
\nBut also to feel the gentle warmth of the sun on my skin once I\u2019m down there.
