168: When the Unexpected Comes

Published: Dec. 20, 2020, 10:53 a.m.

\nWhen something difficult or unwelcome happens, there are many reasons for us to contract away from our lives in an attempt to control what we're feeling. It's a kind of self-protection, yes, but can also be a kind of violence to ourselves. And it often cuts us off from what could most support us, open us, and hold us. So how about\xa0 learning to connect to the memory of our vastness, and our intimacy with all of life, when we are triggered to retreat? This episode of Turning Towards Life is a conversation about remembering the ways in which we already belong to life, and what might come from that; hosted as always by Lizzie Winn and Justin Wise of Thirdspace.

\nWhen the unexpected hit
\nComes
\n
\nAllow
\nIts raw violence
\nTo force the air
\nOut of your lungs
\nFrom the inside out
\n
\nLet it shatter
\nYour heart into
\nMillion pieces
\n
\nWatch it blow
\nYour center away
\nLike it was nothing
\nMore than a dune
\nIn a desert sand
\n
\nFall into nothingness
\nAs you feel the ground
\nBeing pulled under you
\n
\nBe still
\nAs a sailing boat
\nOn a windless sea
\n
\nAnd surrender
\nTo The One
\nWho created you
\nThe first time
\n
\nTo Him we belong
\nAnd to Him we return
\n
\nAnd only He
\nCreates us
\nAgain
\nAnd again
\n
\nEach time more beautiful
\n
\nSurrender
\nAnd witness
\nHis work
\nOf making
\nYou
\nWhole
\nAgain
\n
\nAnd flow
\nIn His Mercy
\nAnd Love
\n
\nAnd love
