Do monsters exist? We are reassured when we are young that there’s nothing waiting under the bed or hiding in the shadows. These imagined terrors are just our minds working overtime, maybe processing a scary story that was told to us, or adding unscripted details to a horror movie that we saw on tv. 

But this is a lie. Monsters do exist. Not in the form of an unearthly beast that our minds created from our childhood, but as a person. A regular person, who appears normal, and just seems to blend in. One of these monsters coldly murdered at least six women in Terrazzo, Italy. And this monster’s name was Gianfranco Stevanin.
