Few decisions in the Star Trek universe were more controversial than the announcement that there would be a new cast for movies featuring Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and the cast of Star Trek.\xa0This week, we'll look at that first film in what has become known as The Kelvin Timeline!

Directed by JJ Abrams, this movie went on to become a global success, bringing a new generation of fans into the Star Trek universe.

We'll discuss our reactions to the various announcements for this film--including the casting of the legendary Leonard Nimoy himself. We'll also look at the story and which elements we liked, as well as what things we might have liked to have seen changed.\xa0
