In 1994, Hollywood released The Santa Clause, a PG family Christmas movie starring Tim Allen as a divorced dad who unintentionally kills Santa only to take his place as king of the North Pole. By the time films two G rated sequels rolled out in the mid aughts, the style was noticeably brighter, the adults were a little less grounded, and a predictable pattern emerged where some villain would temporarily succeed in limiting or taking Santa\u2019s powers, risking Christmas, until Santa inevitably restored himself.\xa0
It\u2019s 2022, 16 years since the last movie. Tim Allen is pushing 70 and Disney+ has just released the 5th of a 6 part continuation to the original franchise labeled \u201cThe Santa Clauses.\u201d\xa0
