Cure for our overweight and unhappy families Tag, Toss & Run: 40 Classic Lawn Games We all remember the fun of playing outside with the neighborhood kids until dark, running to be the first to home base, throwing the bocce ball closest to the small ball (the pallino), and trying again and again not to mess up the double dutch jump rope. But 2012 is the 40th anniversary of the first video game, Pong, and now more than ever, children are favoring TV, iPads, and video games over outdoor play. Physicians, educators, and parents are increasingly pointing to the benefits of time spent outdoors for both children and adults. The Let's Move! campaign is spreading nationwide, and more than 58 organizations — including the YMCA, the National Education Association, and the Sierra Club — have signed on to the No Child Left Inside Coalition.
