Authority

Hey there! This week I begin with the regularly scheduled tea talk (lemon cube in an astronaut mug) and life update about falling off routines, career ideas, and social events. I start talking about authority by saying that I want to understand these interactions; I’ll be studying parents, teachers, and adults; investigating boundaries; questioning how accepting I am; and asking how we can have healthy relationships with those who have “power” over us. To analyse parents, I take a look at cases of asking parents for permission, boundaries and injustice. Thinking about teachers, I question workloads, personal relationships, and interactions outside of school. I dive into engaging with random adults and talk about my friends’ parents, conflicts between adults and kids, and exchanging with strangers. To wrap up, I answer my initial question by saying that respect (both to yourself, and those around you) should be your moral compass, that we’re all equally human, how we should express our concerns, and wondering if I’m just a big people pleaser. Before signing off, I read a lovely review from Sara.

TO GET DIRECTLY TO THE CONTENT, SKIP TO 10:37

FOLLOW THE PODCAST’S INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/theasteapodcast?igshid=r04b2760fkdl
CONTACT ME THROUGH: theasteapodcast@gmail.com (for business inquiries, sponsorships or to tell me what you think about this podcast!)
SEND ME A VOICE MESSAGE: https://anchor.fm/th351a-beaury/message
CHECK OUT THE DESIGNERS OF MY COVER ART: https://instagram.com/sofiarrublacreative?igshid=1xtsd1w69zkkl
https://instagram.com/cuerpobaldio?igshid=1jq5cb59nm2z
START YOUR PODCAST NOW BY HEADING TO anchor.fm

CHECK OUT THE THINGS I MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE (IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE):
Restaurant: B\xfaho Parrilla Entre Pinos
Listen to my episode on Solving Problems Through Good Communication (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/episode/6shvRpGzrhr0Y0ZXSG0jZi?si=Nswf9VGfTbOPb0si4VlIdQ
If you enjoyed this episode, you may be interested in my episode on Validation (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/episode/53iy3FZiBtQD14avRiD9R9?si=Ot-8gGD2QwSp75lC6clPNA
Listen to the Philosophize This! podcast (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/show/2Shpxw7dPoxRJCdfFXTWLE?si=NCTkAkVnT86qX98HQSXiKg
Check out Claudia Sulewski’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/ClaudiaSulewski
Check out the store I got my headband from: https://instagram.com/macladama?igshid=154dd8n72grpo

HERE ARE SONE QUOTES I LIKED FROM THIS WEEK’S EPISODE:
12:52 = “How can we have healthy relationships with those who have power over us?”
14:15 = “I had never been raised in a way to question what my parents told me”
15:12 = “To what point should we listen to and obey what our parents tell us?”
16:51 = “We can feel the need to place different limits, and when we’re doing that with a figure of authority, it can feel much more challenging”
17:17 = “How valuable are my wishes and requests in this interpersonal relationship?”
27:25 = “How can you carry a relationship with ex-teachers in a respectful way?”
32:27 = “Kids need to learn to solve their own problems without their parents stepping in”
36:41 = “We tend to think that adults are the ones who have all the responsibility, but, as younger people, we have responsibilities that adults don’t”
38:03 = “We are all human beings, and we are all worthy, even if someone is older than you or has more titles that you”

Thanks for tuning in, have a beautiful week!
