Hey there! This week I begin with my tea talk (lemon tea in an astronaut mug) and a life update about my week off, another physics dilemma, a testimony of improvement, and the music I’ve been studying to. I dive into perfectionism by acknowledging the inspiration for this episode, Sam Laura Brown, saying that I will speak from what I have seen in others and myself, and that a lot of us are perfectionists. Then, I explain what I thought perfectionism meant, and what it actually means, which made me realise I was a perfectionist! Next, I get into the all or nothing mindset: I state that it’s a perfectionist tendency, a popular saying we hear derived from it, how it holds us back from consistency, and my solution to it. Afterward, I focus on self sabotage: how this is another perfectionist tendency, an example, how this links to the all or nothing mindset, and that it stems from insecurity and limitations. Continuing, I share how perfectionists expect things to be effortless: what this implies, a personal example, and what I learned from that. I wrap up with the idea that perfectionism limits us. In my favourites I include a podcast, online creator, and playlist, then I sign off!

TO GET DIRECTLY TO THE CONTENT, SKIP TO 10:18

FOLLOW THE PODCAST’S INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/theasteapodcast?igshid=r04b2760fkdl
CONTACT ME THROUGH: theasteapodcast@gmail.com (for business inquiries, sponsorships or to tell me what you think about this podcast!)
SEND ME A VOICE MESSAGE: https://anchor.fm/th351a-beaury/message
CHECK OUT THE DESIGNERS OF MY COVER ART: https://instagram.com/sofiarrublacreative?igshid=1xtsd1w69zkkl
https://instagram.com/cuerpobaldio?igshid=1jq5cb59nm2z
START YOUR PODCAST NOW BY HEADING TO anchor.fm

CHECK OUT THE THINGS I MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE (IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE):
Listen to my episode titled “I’m scared for all of this to end” (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/episode/2KX7lag2OTGTPrgWRlacsq?si=6JoIBuI2QvK_2dP1_UMP5A
Listen to Sam Laura Brown’s podcast, The Perfectionism Project (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/show/5QAsL8roKR67O1GO2LiXvS?si=oPJuHAyITW2debF5TfMFwg
Listen to the Extra Dynamic podcast (on Spotify): https://open.spotify.com/show/5m0e6Ap064nsQXJo0VspNA?si=6yK-teHNSduvnQRdld-ySA
Check out Orion Carloto’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/OrionCarloto
Watch Orion Carloto’s YouTube video about a morning in her life: https://youtu.be/8NxolTUwQTo
Listen to the ChilledCow Spotify low fi hip hop playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6jUXWvAQhTMFyPECJGJmoX?si=RJsVcsy-TkKzA8WNnQIIRA

HERE ARE SONE QUOTES I LIKED FROM THIS WEEK’S EPISODE:
16:44 = “The all or nothing mindset basically comes from perfectionists limiting and restricting themselves to thinking that life is black and white”
18:48 = “Perfectionists are willing to close doors on entire experiences in our lives because we’re scared that they will damage our image”
19:59 = “Sometimes we have to learn and set ourselves up to not excel”
20:33 = “As perfectionists, we can live in a rut where we’re not exposing ourselves to new things because we’re so scared”
21:46 = “This all or nothing mindset keeps us from consistency, and consistency is doing things more often than not”
24:28 = “Now it’s all or something instead of all or nothing”
26:33 = “You’re scared to fail, so you manipulate things in your favor, so that you don’t have to confront that”
28:40 = “I think that all the self sabotage comes from insecurity and limitations”
29:26 = “We essentially hold ourselves back in fear of not being 100%”
31:26 = “We think that we’re so good at everything, that everything in life will just fall into our laps”
31:52 = “Perfectionists think they’re living in this dream where everything will just magically happen”
35:08 = “Things shouldn’t be effortless”
36:57 = “Perfectionism will limit you”

Thanks for tuning in, have a beautiful week!
