In 1991, Robert Felix, a former architect, became vitally interested in the dinosaur extinction.

He spent the next eight years - full-time - researching and writing Not by Fire but by Ice.

Felix learned that many magnetic reversals - more than could be mere coincidence - had occurred in sync with both mass extinctions and ice ages.
