Before taking Sterling into her life, Marta held counseling positions in the United States and overseas. Her last overseas posting was ten years as counselor, then Head Counselor, of the expatriate counseling center in Jakarta. Indonesia. During her years abroad she also served as Counselor at the Cairo American College and consultant to teaching staffs in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. She returned to the U.S. and entered private practice. After the death of her husband, Felber wrote two books to help others in their journey through grief, "Grief Expressed When a Mate Dies," and "Finding Your Way After Your Spouse Dies."
