Gail Rubin, Certified Thanatologist and The Doyenne of Death\xae, is a pioneering death educator who uses humor, film clips, and outside-the-box activities to teach about end-of-life topics and planning ahead. An award-winning speaker, she "knocked 'em dead" at TEDxABQ with her talk, \u201cA Good Goodbye.\u201d She\u2019s also an informed advocate for planning ahead and a Certified Funeral Celebrant. The Association for Death Education and Counseling recognized her work with their 2024 Community Educator Award.

She\u2019s the author of three books on end-of-life issues: A Good Goodbye: Funeral Planning for Those Who Don't Plan to Die, Hail and Farewell: Cremation Ceremonies, Templates and Tips, and KICKING THE BUCKET LIST: 100 Downsizing and Organizing Things to Do Before You Die.

She is also one of the first people to hold a Death Caf\xe9 in the United States and has held the annual Before I Die New Mexico Festival since 2017.
