Inspiration Text: Matthew 4:1-4; 6:16-18
\n 4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 He fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was famished. 3 The tempter came and said to him, \u201cIf you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.\u201d 4 But he answered, \u201cIt is written,
\u2018One does not live by bread alone,
\n but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.\u2019\u201d
\u202616 \u201cAnd whenever you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
