The dry soils are making oilseed rape weed control difficult and choosing the correct options will maximise control but also minimise crop effects. \xa0

On this week\u2019s Tillage Edge podcast, Ciar\xe1n Collins, a tillage specialist in Teagasc, discusses the benefits and drawbacks from a number of different approaches.

Ciar\xe1n explains that residual herbicides don\u2019t work well in dry soils and growers should be cautious when using these herbicides when heavy rain is forecast. \xa0

Ciar\xe1n also pointed out that oilseed rape gives an excellent opportunity to control grass weeds using herbicides with a different mode of action than are normally used on the farm.
