Motherhood can be painful. Losses abound. We can lose our children to death, to the world, to an occupation, to a husband, to an addiction\u2026.the list goes on. In the Old Testament book of Ruth, we meet the ultimate underdog: Naomi. She has lost her husband, her sons, her home and everything she loves. Eventually, she renames herself, \u201cBitter\u201d, because frankly that\u2019s how she feels. But, although Naomi may have given up on God goodness, God has not given up on her. Naomi, as it turns out, ends up being the grandmother of greatness. Through Ruth, the daughter she tried to push away, David will be born and eventually Jesus as well. The real question is will we give up on God\u2019s goodness or believe that His grace and love for us can NEVER fail.
