The internal war is the one most people neglect, and it is also where\nmost people fall. If you are defeated within, you will never have authority over the external world.\nOnce you have brought your mind into the right way of thinking, submitted yourself to God, and\nclothed yourself in His armor, it is time to bring His kingdom into every corner of the world. That\nis our calling and purpose, as discussed in chapter 5. Second Corinthians 10:4 contains this\npowerful parenthetical statement: \u201cFor the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty\nthrough God to the pulling down of strong holds\u201d (KJV). What are these weapons? You might\nimmediately think of the armor of God in Ephesians 6, which we have already discussed. But\nremember, this list contains only one offensive weapon\u2014the sword of the Spirit, which is the\nWord of God. The rest of the gear is strictly defensive (i.e., they are not listed as weapons). Yet\nPaul says that we have mighty spiritual weapons (plural) for waging warfare and pulling down\nstrongholds. The question remains, what are these weapons? First, as I argued in chapter 6, it\u2019s\nimportant to keep in mind that Paul\u2019s teaching on the armor of God is not meant to be taken too\nstrictly. Paul\u2019s metaphor approximates God\u2019s armor in Isaiah 59:15\u201318. It indicates a readiness for\nbattle against evil and injustice. For us as well, clothing ourselves in spiritual armor is an indication\nwe are on the warpath against evil. But obviously believers have many powerful weapons in our\narsenal beyond those listed in Ephesians 6.
