SpongeBob SquarePants is a children\u2019s cartoon created by Stephen Hillenburg. It debuted on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999. As of this podcast, 299 episodes have aired, with more on the way.

The show follows the adventures of SpongeBob (Tom Kenny), an anthropomorphic sponge living in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, run by the Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown). Attempting to steal the formula to the Krabby Patty is the villainous Plankton (Mr. Lawrence). Other characters include SpongeBob\u2019s friends Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) and Sandy (Carolyn Lawrence) as well as his neighbor and co-worker Squidward (Rodger Bumpass).

SpongeBob is Nickelodeon\u2019s most successful show and longest running Nicktoon. It has spawned three movies, two spinoffs, and even a Broadway musical. The show has won five Daytime Emmys, including Outstanding Children\u2019s Animated Series and two wins for Kenny for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program.
