Pels/Spurs \\u2013 The New Orleans Pelicans won two more games than the San Antonio Spurs during the regular season. But the 10th-place Spurs beat the ninth-place Pelicans three times in four head-to-head games.

The Southwest Division rivals are very evenly matched going into their Western Conference play-in elimination game Wednesday night in New Orleans.

The winner will play a road elimination game Friday against the loser of Tuesday\\u2019s game between the No. 7 Minnesota Timberwolves and the No. 8 Los Angeles Clippers.

\\u201cIt\\u2019s extremely valuable for all of us, for a young group, myself as a young coach,\\u201d Pelicans first-year coach Willie Green said of the franchise\\u2019s first postseason game in four years. \\u201cWe stayed together and stayed connected. The Pelicans (36-46) have not had forward Zion Williamson, their leading scorer a year ago, all season because of foot surgery. They lost 12 of their first 13 games, but have had a winning record since then and have played much better since acquiring guard CJ McCollum in a trade with Portland in early February.

Second-leading scorer Brandon Ingram (22.7) has missed 27 games this season, including the last three due to hamstring tightness. But he practiced fully Tuesday and expects to play Wednesday.
