He\u2019s topped the charts and won multiple awards for his music, and now he\u2019s taken a step into the world of film.\xa0
A recording of his 2021 concert extravaganza \u2018\u014ctautahi Proud\u2019 has been transformed into 'Tiki Taane in session with CSO,\u2019 the film finding international acclaim.\xa0
After sold-out screenings in Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington, Tauranga, and Hamilton, Auckland dates have finally been announced.\xa0
Taane told Newstalk ZB\u2019s Mike Hosking that he was stoked that he took the time to capture the performance.\xa0
\u201cI wanted to record it and film it and hopefully get some good YouTube videos, you know what I mean?\u201d \xa0
\u201cIt ended up being like, okay, this is really good.\u201d\xa0
Taane\u2019s known as one of the pioneers of the New Zealand dub scene, but he\u2019s always been experimental with his music, bending and blurring the lines between genres.\xa0
He started working with orchestras in his twenties, telling Hosking that it \u201cfeels like a privilege.\u201d\xa0
\u201cSeeing the power of an orchestra, where they can go so, so quiet to massively dynamic in a matter of seconds, is an incredible feeling to watch and witness.\u201d\xa0
When it comes to translating his own music to work with orchestral accompaniment, Taane said that he broke it down to the fundamentals and built around them.\xa0
\u201cI wanted the orchestra to be really involved and really just going for it.\u201d\xa0
The intent was always there to create something that could potentially be turned into a film and they certainly succeeded, winning multiple international awards.\xa0
Taane is using the success of \u2018Tiki Taane in session with CSO\u2019 as an opportunity to push into the film industry.\xa0
\u201cI kind of wanted to show the film community, this is what I can do.\u201d \xa0
