Fears the thousands leaving ED each month\xa0are\xa0just the tip of the iceberg.

New figures show more than 4000 people left hospital without being seen during the month of May due to wait times.\xa0

Northcare Medical Director Peter Boot told Mike Hosking the real number's probably much higher.

He says people are going to ED with primary care needs because their GPs are full.

\u201cAll of these people with general practice problems \u2014 just looking after their diabetes or blood pressure \u2014 are all going into the A & Es and well as all the sick people and all of the people who\u2019ve had accidents, and a few people with Covid.\u201d
