There\u2019s a view it's not all teachers' fault for low pass rates in high school. \xa0

New research has found a quarter of new primary school teachers failed maths and more than half failed science at NCEA Level One. \xa0

More than half who pursued Level Two maths also failed.\xa0

The Teaching Council's calling for more investment and widespread changes to how teachers are prepared for the classroom. \xa0

Chief Executive Lesley Hoskin told Mike Hosking that teachers have been let down by the structure and resources given to them while training.\xa0

She says we have to stop blaming teachers for the system we created, as this is a systemic failure over decades.\xa0
