A law expert says the Whakaari White Island trial was a messy process. \xa0

The island's owner, Whakaari Management Limited, has been found guilty on one health and safety charge brought by WorkSafe. \xa0

WorkSafe charged 13 parties in 2020; six pleaded guilty ahead of the trial and another six had charges dismissed.\xa0

Law expert Chris Gallavin told Mike Hosking that not having corporate manslaughter in our legislation, is a glaring hole. \xa0

He says it would cover a lot of people dying at work, and the members of the public who died in this kind of situation.\xa0
