Breast cancer experts are hopeful after a new study has shed light on how pre-existing medication could be used to prevent the disease.\xa0

A hormone drug that is currently prescribed to treat cancers in older women has been found to also have preventative qualities when given to those with family history of breast cancer.\xa0

Adele Gautier from the Breast Cancer Foundation told Mike Hosking that it's promising.\xa0

She says that unlike quitting smoking or applying sunscreen, breast cancer has, until now, had no obvious preventative measures.\xa0
