Egged on by the Press?

\u201cAt last! A true Tory budget\u201d, proclaimed The Daily Mail after the mini-budget. Four weeks on and a very different tone: \u201cIn office but not in power\u201d, was the front page this Tuesday.

So what exactly is Liz Truss\u2019 relationship with Britain\u2019s press? Was she really \u201cegged on\u201d by the media, as some of her critics claim, to do what she did in the disastrous mini-budget? And if the opinion polls are to be believed \u2013 with her party apparently heading for oblivion at a general election \u2013 might traditional Tory papers switch allegiance?
