Gaining Strength from Ancestors (0:14:16)

There’s something truly special about making connections with ancestors, and I think we can find bravery for our own future by gleaning from our family’s past. Recognizing the power family history has in our lives, Sarah Clift and Tara MacDonald started Olive Branch Connections. Their organization helps abused or homeless women leaving shelters in California by connecting them with their family history. Sarah and Tara join us today to tell us more about their organization.

How to Wait Well (0:35:00)

It’s inevitable that we will have to wait for things... which can cause us to feel bored, irritable, or stressed. Often, to fill our time, we turn to our phones, TV, or the radio to make the time go by faster. In fact, those periods of waiting tend to become our designated times for checking social media, getting news updates, and catching up on our favorite shows. But sometimes I think when we use our waiting periods like this, we are wasting precious time. So how can we wait better? Well, don’t worry... We won’t make you wait any longer to find out! Here to teach us how to change our approach and attitudes towards waiting is Director of the Design Cultures & Creativity Program at the University of Maryland and author of “Delayed Response: The Art of Waiting”, Dr. Jason Farman.

Blue’s Clues Blue Friday (0:52:47)

There are a few basic things that every kid should have like diapers, food, and clothing. But, unfortunately, there are some impoverished children who don’t have access to these simple necessities. To help give them and their families what they need this holiday season, Nickelodeon is partnering with the non-profit Baby2Baby for “Blue Friday”... which is today! Here to tell us more about “Blue Friday” and what they’re doing to kickstart the day, we’re joined by Traci Paige Johnson, co-creator of Nickelodeon’s popular show “Blue’s Clues & You!” and the voice of Blue.
