Matinee

Published: Sept. 18, 2019, 9:18 p.m.

We kick off You've Never Seen September with a look at a film that harkens back to the golden age of cinema and the gimmicks that came along with it: Joe Dante's\xa0Matinee. The film focuses on Lawrence Woolsey, a William Castle-type, who brings his gimmicky newest film to a 1962 Key West that is on edge during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Supported by a knockout performance by the immensely talented John Goodman, its a fun throwback to a time when cinema was king and every filmmaker was looking for a way to differentiate their film. You've Never Seen's Michael Wallace joins Chris to talk about the film, Joe Dante's filmography, and the changing way we go to the movies.
