Keeping Peoples Names Safe | Build Positivity with Constructive Conversations

In today’s episode we are talking about speaking in such a way that we don’t slander the names of the people about whom we talk. We’ve been working with each other and our kids to keep our conversations free of speaking ill of others and we have found it especially hard to do with people we don’t know personally. If we’re just stating facts about somebody, that’s not putting their name down, but when we’re not keeping people’s names safe, it’s generally us spouting our opinion. There is so much information out there these days, much of it contradictory, that it makes it easy to just start offering our negative opinions. We have found though that as we try to keep people’s names safe, things start looking up in life and we have become happier.

“If you think about anyone in the world, really you don’t know what’s going on unless you ask and they tell you all the details, and if you don’t ask and they don’t tell you all the details, you are left with assumptions. If you are discussing somebody else and you’re making assumptions, then that in itself is gossip, which is not keeping someone’s name safe if you’re making assumptions and that they’re negative assumptions.” 9:43
