Upstate stroke outreach coordinator and nurse Joshua Onyan and occupational therapist Jennifer Spieker describe this process, during which a patient is evaluated and helped with needs that might include therapy to recover speech or movement, as well as monitoring medications and overall health. They note that young people are also affected by stroke and that each patient faces different challenges, often depending on which area of the brain the stroke  affected.
