b'In a Fabian-Socialist context, the term \\u201cconspiracy\\u201d originated with the conspirators themselves. It was freely used by early Fabians like H. G. Wells (\\u201cThe Open Conspiracy\\u201d) and their close collaborators. Lenin and other Russian communist leaders who enjoyed warm relations with the Fabians, were so fond of it that they carried on referring to their party as \\u201cconspiratorial\\u201d long after they had seized power.

Indeed, as amply shown by numerous critics, Fabian-Socialist strategy and tactics fit the accepted definition of conspiracy: historically, the Fabian Society has seen itself as an elite group that uses stealth as a means to establish socialism, i.e., nationalisation, abolition of private property and total state control over society. Ramsay MacDonald, an early Fabian, Labour Party ideologue and future Prime Minister of Britain, wrote that the state must \\u201cfeel and think for the whole of society\\u201d.
