Becoming a Bad Ass Vegan

Published: Feb. 16, 2021, 5:02 p.m.

There's a reason why John Lewis is known as the Bad Ass Vegan. He overcame an obese childhood and used his own weight loss success to empower thousands to conquer their own chronic health issues that have been plaguing them for years.

He joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll to talk about overcoming the challenges of weighing more than 300 pounds as a freshman in high school. And while his athletic career flourished, the extra weight had taken a toll on his body. Ultimately, his knees would require multiple operations.

The fact that John was able to shed the weight is inspirational enough, but now he's on a mission to educate the world about the traps of the standard American diet.

John also discusses the partnership he has with Keegan Kuhn, director of What The Health, to make "They're Trying To Kill Us," a film that takes a hard look at the food realities for many in the Black community. For the first time he's showing the situation through the lens of hip hop culture with some of the music industry's biggest names.

Plus, John exclusively reveals the two megastars who have signed on to the film as executive producers!

John and Chuck also talk about his incessantly positive view of the world despite its glaring challenges. He has made a conscious decision to choose happiness and how that is having a massive impact on his health.
