A great talk with Barry Rivers..Since its inaugural year in 1999, the Maui Film Festival has presented films with more than 500 Academy Award\xae nominations between them.\xa0 These have included all but one Academy Award\xae winning Best Picture as well as \u2014 in addition to many Golden Globe\xae and Independent Spirit Awards\xae \u2014 nearly 200 wins in virtually all AMPAS categories.\xa0 In 2016 FirstLight presented Moonlight, La La Land, Manchester by the Sea, Fences and Hidden Figuresamong others.\xa0\xa0 \xa0
With Academy Award\xae nominations not yet announced, 2017\u2019s FirstLight films have already garnered more than 60 nominations and/or awards in Best Director, Screenplay and Lead / Supporting Actor / Actress categories, among others, from the Golden Globes\xae, Spirit Awards\xae, SAG Awards, Gotham Awards and both the Los Angeles and New York FIlm Critic Associations. These films include:\xa0 All the Money in the World, The Breadwinner, Downsizing, The Florida Project, Lady Bird, Molly\u2019s Game and I, Tonya.
