A talk \xa0with John Neff. John has been a professional in the sound industry since making his first record in 1965. While a recording artist and performer for many years, John has been \u2018behind the glass\u2019 on the studio production side of things for over 30 years, producing and engineering hundreds of records, commercials, sound for TV, Radio, DVD, Internet, Video and Feature Motion Pictures. He was David Lynch\u2019s Chief Engineer, Studio Manager and musical co-writer/performer for eight years in Hollywood.
Recent accomplishments include 2 new albums for the legendary band, \u201cJourney\u201d, 5.1 Surround Mix for the Feature Film, \u201cDark Reel\u201d (released March 2009), Live and Studio albums for Singer Keith England (formerly Allman Bros.), a CD project for Troubadour Rondo Beutler, the 5.1 soundtrack mix of the festival trailer (preview) for a 2007 feature film titled \u201cInner Balance\u201d; location, music and mix work on David Lynch\u2019s feature film \u201cInland Empire\u201d; Mix of the soundtrack for Michael Franti\u2019s\xc2 \xa0feature documentary film, \u201cI Know I\u2019m Not Alone\u201d, and Audio and Video production of all content for davidlynch.com.\xc2 \xa0Neff also did the 5.1 Remixes and Restorations for DVD release of Lynch\u2019s films, \u201cEraserhead\u201d, \u201cThe Elephant Man\u201d, \u201cBlue Velvet\u201d, \u201cWild At Heart\u201d, \u201cTwin Peaks\u2014Fire, Walk With Me\u201d, and mixed the theatrical soundtracks and soundtrack CDs for Lynch\u2019s theatrical releases, \u201cThe Straight Story\u201d and \u201cMulholland Drive\u201d. He provided original music for both of those films and recorded and mixed the scores as well.
John has a CD in release with Lynch entitled \u201cBlue Bob\u201d, which they premiered at the legendary Olympia Theatre in Paris, and they together wrote, performed and recorded the theme song of the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, \u201cCannes Memory\u201d.
