Preparing Jesus' Death: 2 Different Approaches

In Mark 14:1-11, we see a tale of devotion sandwiched between two plots of deceit. Knowingly and unknowingly, both parties were preparing for Jesus’ death, but in drastically different ways. By using this sandwich construction, Mark is teaching us what true discipleship looks like. True discipleship is professing Jesus as Lord, instead of using Jesus to help us be lords; it is proclaiming the Kingdom of God, instead of seeking a kingdom to call our own.
