In 2 Corinthians 8:9 Paul summarizes the riches to rags story of the Incarnation of God’s Son. He writes: “You know the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.” This is the amazing message of Christmas. The Son of God, who dwelt in glorious equality with God the Father, laid it all aside so that He would become a man who would die on a cursed cross and save His people from their sins. Truly, through our faith in Him, His poverty becomes the means of receiving every spiritual blessing that God has to give us (Ephesians 1:3).
