God and His Creation

In the first of two messages on Genesis 1:1-2:3, we are looking at key connections between the Creator and His creation. We can only understand the world around us when we see how it relates to the One who made it and defines it. First, the creation is utterly dependent upon God. His Word brought the world into existence and His word upholds it moment-by-moment. When we deny the connection between the Creator and the creation, Romans 1 says that we become futile in our thinking. Second, we see that the creation is good. It is given to us by God in order to enjoy with thanksgiving. Taken together, these characteristics help us to see that the biblical story is uniquely able to help us make sense out of life in this world.
