Bristol born Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence was one of the leaders of the \u2018suffragette\u2019 campaign. Imprisoned six times, she was treasurer of Mrs Pankhurst\u2019s Women\u2019s Social and Political Union and jointly edited \u2018Votes for Women\u2019 magazine.
