IU-Purdue Postgame Show: Historically Bad Offense Negates Solid Defensive Effort

Published: Feb. 28, 2020, 4:01 a.m.

On Thursday night, Indiana fell yet again to Purdue. The Hoosiers played solid defense for most of the night, but a woefully inept offensive performance from everyone on the roster left Indiana with little chance of stealing a road victory.

After the game, our crew broke it all down on this edition of The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show.

On the mics: Jerod, Andy, and Coach

Among the topics discussed:

— Why Race Thompson's play was, yet again, one of the bright spots for Indiana
— How much credit do the Hoosiers get for fighting back in the 2nd half?
— What went wrong with Trayce Jackson-Davis and Indiana's offense.
— Issues with the coaching from offensive strategy to lineup decisions (with some kudos for the defense).
— The tantalizing second half stretch from Rob Phinisee in the midst of yet another disappointing game.
— How Indiana lost yet another game to Purdue thanks to a stretch in which it got out-toughed and out-executed.

We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, including an extra cranky AC After Dark, on this edition of The Assembly Call.
