IU-Maryland Postgame Show: Hoosiers Collapse Late on a Sad Day for Basketball

Published: Jan. 26, 2020, 9:36 p.m.

On Sunday afternoon, Indiana played terrific basketball for 18 and a half minutes, turning a 9-point halftime deficit into a 7-point lead late in the second half. But a series of a miscues and bad decisions down the stretch cost Indiana a huge home victory.

After the game, our crew broke it all down, and also reacted to the tragic news about Kobe Bryant, on The Assembly Call IU Postgame Show.

On the mics: Jerod and Ryan

Among the topics discussed:

— They key stretches in the second half featuring Trayce Jackson-Davis down low, one with Joey Brunk and the other with De'Ron Davis.
— What led to Indiana's collapse and where the blame lies.
— Jerome Hunter's breakout game finally came, on both ends of the court.
— Devonte Green's up and down day.
— Why Rob Phinisee had a good game ... except when it mattered most.
— How to process the conflicting feelings of Indiana playing well and continuing to improve, but pissing away a victory in winning timing.

And our thoughts on Kobe Bryant's sad, shocking death in a helicopter accident.

We also point out a few meaningful moments you may have missed, go inside the numbers, and hand out our game balls. All of that, and more, on this edition of The Assembly Call.
